Warrior Knights - As good as I thought!
I don't have time right now to get too far in depth about this, but I finally got a chance to play Warrior Knights again last night. During my first play of the game, I was very impressed by both the action selection mechanic and how the triggered phases were integrated into play. But a pretty major rule was forgotten that otherwise dramatically reduced my enjoyment of the game.
Right after that game (like literally an hour or two later), I downloaded the rules from Fantasy Flight and figured out the mistake we had made. I also picked up a little more on some of the more detailed rules of the game, and was so impressed that I went out a few days later and bought the game.
Finally, in what was my least profitable (in number of games played) game night ever, I had another chance to play just last night. I even actually taught the game to two new players (with a little help). We actually ran out of time and had to end a round or two early (with me leading, of course), but I still feel that I've had enough experience with the game to give it a pretty concrete initial rating, which I set at a 9 out of 10.
Warrior Knights just seems to capture so many things that lots of other games struggle with. There is a really great action selection mechanic, a solid combat system, an effective political element, and a neat faith/random event system, all along with a great framework for negotiation and social interaction. The game I would compare it to most is probably Twilight Imperium 3rd Edition both in scope and mechanics, but to me, Warrior Knights seems to do a much better job of integrating all of these cool elements in aproximately half the play time.
I'm sure I'll write a full review at some point in the future (after a few more playes), but for now I just wanted to give a wholehearted recommendation to everybody out there for this fantastic board game.

I couldn't agree more. This is a fantastic game. I've only played twice. Like you, we missed a critical rule the first time. The second attempt was interrupted when a player was called away in the middle of the game. I'm really trying hard to get the right group together for this game again. I'm really looking forward to more playings of this excellent game.
