2009 Golden Geek Awards Announced!

So, the winners of the 2009 Golden Geek Awards were just announced, and there aren't really many surprises.  Dominion took home Game of the Year and Card Game awards, but it's won pretty much everything over the last year anyway.  Pandemic and Space Hulk won won a couple as well, and Le Havre (the only game to beat Dominion in any of the "major" awards), won Gamer's Game.  Overall, it's a very respectable list, and I apparently need to print out Dune Express and give it a try...

Well, I'll be continuing to bring Space Hulk to game night; now that it's a multiple award-winner maybe more people will want to give it a spin?

I'd love to try it out, but it's just that I always feel so anti-social when I play a 2-player game at game night...

Is this game night or is this cotillion?
You're playing a boardgame...who cares how many opponents that there are?

I think 'cotillion' is a word that is sorely underrepresented in gaming reviews and if/when I get my minis gaming blog up and running I promise to use it at least once per entry.

You know another underrepresented word in gaming reviews/blogs in general???

            "Dainty"

In fact, I think that you should make the title of your blog something like "Kenny's Frickin' Cotillion of Dainty Mini Madness!"

Well, supposedly on some of the bigger missions later in the game when you're running both squads of Terminators, people split up the Space Marines (and I guess the genestealers as well, although since they aren't in squads I'm uncertain as to how they delegate authority) and get a little multiplayer thing going on. The other option is now that I think I basically have a handle on the rules mission 1 is supposed to have a playtime of like 20-30 minutes. I'll be setting it up as soon as I get there tonight; maybe if we hit one of those pockets where game A ends and game B still has time to run you can get in a game of it!

Thanks for letting us know. I didn't realize they were out. I wish I could make it down there sometime.
